Hey Everybody...
We had a blast this weekend at Boo At The Zoo!  I can't even begin to describe how cute Parker was as a "monkey" so I will definitely be posting some pics soon.  First of all though, I wanted to update you all on our appointment last Monday at MUSC.  I absolutely love our new opthamologist.  He is everything I had hoped for on the drive down there, and I am so thankful that I listened to that "still small voice"!  When we arrived for our appointment Parker was sound asleep...and the nurses did not want to wake him up....so they actually waited for him to wake up before they started the appointment.  What doctor's office does that?  I was amazed to say the least!  Dr. Wilson was so understanding about Parker's eye situation and has actually given us a patching technique that we will use four hours a day for several months.  During the appointment Dr. Wilson explained to us that Parker has zero percent usage out of his right eye, and one hundred percent out of the left.  Parker's brain is actually telling his left eye to do all the work, therefore leaving the right eye  "lazy" if you will.  Patching of the left eye (his good eye) will automatically tell the right eye to work harder, and strengthen itself naturally.  Unfortunately surgery is needed, but only after the percentage of usage increases.  He then let us know that Parker really doesn't need to be in glasses because the far sightedness isn't bad enough for them and that there was no rush for surgery, but our doctor here gave us a prescription for glasses and said that surgery would need to be very soon!  Interesting huh?!  Parker will also be in the "Astronaut Program" at physical therapy doing a "spinning technique" that will help strengthen his eye also.  He didn't seem to like it at first but he will get used to it as we go each week.  We will have a new speech therapist working with Paker on his eating habits also.  Since he is still not eating regular food and can not tolerate them without throwing up, the speech therapist can work with him on techniques to help him along with that.  Anyway, we dropped off the candy filled jack-o-lanterns and had a moment to speak with Dr. Bradley's assistant Cathy, who found us a neurosurgeon at MUSC, and Willis and I will be headed to Charleston again Friday to see what his thoughts are on Parkers' brain.  Please be much in prayer this week for us as we go for yet our fourth opinion for diagnosis on Parkers' brain.  I am really interested to see what his thoughts are after reading the three different diagnosis from each specialist, especially to see which one he agrees with!  God is so extremely wonderful isn't He?!  It is amazing to me the amount of Love that He has for us.  It's too much to wrap our small world around, but how great it is to be covered up with His blanket of Love each and every night.  We love you God, and we thank you for all of the blessings and answered prayers that you have given to our son and our family thus far.  And our prayer to you tonight is that you will place Parker's eyes in your hands and heal them along with his brain.  Continue to strengthen him daily and know that we will continue to honor you as his parents.  We love you God and thank you for all things.
Love In Christ,
The Crafts
