It is God who is at work in you...both to will and to work for HIS good pleasure....Philippians 2:13
Hey Everybody...
Today was filled with yet another unexpected doctors appointment. As I mentioned last night Parker had two appointments today. One of course for his cardiology follow up on his heart monitor and the second for opthomology for his right eye. The heart monitor is only to have on standby if he has another episode like he was having during physical therapy. By the grace of God he hasn't had one since we gave them our baseline...but Dr. Wienecke would like to extend it one more month before turning it off. Other than that Parker's heart sounded great today and we could not be happier about the good news. Mrs Hellen, Parker's nurse, sang Happy Birthday to him before we left our appointment, and Mrs Jean looked at me and said "I am just so happy that he has a birthday to celebrate". It was a really sweet little moment that I will never forget. Unfortunately, my sweet moment was somewhat short lived because we got a "not so great" report from Dr. Cheeseman, Parker's opthomologist. Our appointment today was to take a closer look at his right eye. Since Parker was born his right eye has had a bounce to it and it turns in occasionally. After further review today we have been given two options for treatment. The first option, of course, was not what I expected to hear today...Surgery! The second option would be glasses for three months and then see if it would correct it without surgery...but if it didn't, then surgery would be the next step. At least if we tried the glasses first we could say that we did try the less invasive option first. I asked Dr. Cheeseman if we could try the glasses first since he has had success with it in the past, without surgery, and he agreed to that. But...after we sat down with the optician for Parker's frame fitting....I know in my heart that the glasses I was looking at on the floor... that were bent in half... would be a terrible waist of money, time and effort. Parker certainly doesn't understand the act of keeping them on his face...he thinks after today that they looked far better on the floor. So...Willis and I have decided, after researching the procedure on line, that surgery is the much better choice for Parker. We would have to keep Parker in glasses, with bifocals, for 3 months as opposed to a 3 day turn around with surgery. So....please add this to your prayer list and I will let you know when we get a surgery date. Even though it was not exactly what I wanted to hear this morning, I am thankul to God himself for options! And how wonderful it is to know that with every corner we turn....God is standing right before us allowing us to witness His plan for Parker's life! I have to admit when Dr. Cheesman walked out of the exam room today I had a question of "why" on my heart again. Why here, Why now, Why another surgery....and the holy spirit quickly reminded me that, had we not been where we've come from, my testimony would not be near as strong for Christ as it is now. I thought I had faith before. The Holy Spirit quickly gave me a glimpse from my past today. I saw the scared little girl and her mother that I prayed with at Richland while we were awaiting open heart surgery. And today in that exam room...the Holy Spirit took me back....and had my son not been in that hospital at that very moment.....waiting to have his chest cut wide open.....I would have never been there to pray with her. So...I know now why....sometimes I just need to be reminded! God thank you for your constance love..... and friendly reminders!

We are Sooooo Busy.....
Hey Everybody...
Let me just start by saying that Willis and I have been extremely busy lately. It seems as if everything is happening all at once. In the last two weeks Willis and I have worked 192 hours ...which we are completely blessed...we aren't complaining....but that's alot of hours. We have gone "back to school shopping" for Karlyn. We went to "meet and greet" for her new teachers...of which she loves. Karlyn started the 4th grade yesterday, and for all of you that know her, she is soooo excited to be back at school. She truly enjoys school! And we can't be more proud of our little honor roll student three years in a row! You Go Girl! Parker on the other hand has recieved an "A" from his physical therapist and developemental therapist for crawling all over the place. He is pulling up on everything, and is trying his best to walk. We take him tomorrow for his follow-up Opthamology and Cardiology appointments. So we are looking forward to a great check up tomorrow. I have a dear friend Shannon that helped me out with the pictures below. I should have video taped the entire photo shoot. We set up for the picutures in my kitchen. Shannon made the smash cake for me (which turned out so very cute)! I should have taken a picture of our set. It was hilarious. We taped spot lights to my window seal. It was just about as old school as it could get. We had such a great time though ...and keeping our boys occupied and happy was fun. Parker ended up being completely terrified of the cake...but Shannon did a great job capturing the pictures that she did......and have I mentioned the storm that took place during our photo shoot.......it was real nice! Chaos...I know! But she helped create a memory for us that I will be greatful to her forever. I have to also add that I have the sweetest husband ever!!! I e-mailed him about a Christmas gift idea for myself. I had gone on You Tube and watched several documentaries on a really great flash for my camera. You all know I love to accessorize! And you may not believe this but.....when I got home Tuesday night he had dinner on the table, had picked up both of our children, had washed the kids clothes, finished the shopping for Karlyn's school supplies and yes......he surprised me with my new flash! He's the best husband any girl could ever ask for and I am so thankful to God for him. Anyway...I would like for you all to pray for me this week. I start a brand new bible study with the third thru fifth grade girls at church called "Faith Girlz"! It will be alot of fun and I am so very excited about it. I will keep you posted on the news from tomorrow as soon as I get home from the appointments. Thanks for all of your support and prayers.

Crazy Busy....
Hey Everybody...
I am running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. And I do believe that it is catching up with me...my head I mean...hopefully! Parker's first birthday is only seventeen days away and preparing for the amount of people that are on our list has been crazy fun. I, of course, can not in my right mind go to the store and by a birthday sign that is already made. I have to make it myself...because that's just who I am. I have searched Columbia over for a baby blue diaper cover and there is obviously a dying market for those so I am trying to sew one myself....as you can tell in the picture below...I haven't made it past the pins. Not to mention, trying to measure a crawling babies waistline and thighs is next to impossible. I went last week to monogram Parker's onesie and it came out uneven, so I went back and had them correct it and it looks great! Oh and I learned how to make fondant for Parker's cake. I seriously felt like I was on an episode of "Cake Boss" this weekend. My really sweet friend Dawn makes really awesome fondant cakes, so I went to her house Saturday for four hours and made worms, peeking eyes, elephant trunks, trees and of course the big yellow hat for the top of our cupcake tower. I really thought hard about making the topper and cupcakes myself until I called Publix and they are willing to rescue me from the war I have with my kitchen. You all know that my kitchen skills are lacking one major detail....the art of cooking itself! There you have it...God did not make me the queen of the kitchen...but God did find me a husband that was and that is all I need. I am so excited about our little man's birthday! Karlyn has been such a huge help this weekend watching Parker for us. With all of the preparation that is involved with his birthday she sure has been a blessing! I am going to have to slow down though because Saturday night I came down with something...not quite sure exactly what it was...but if I had to guess....I'm not resting enough. We didn't even make it to church this morning our our home group class tonight. Sometimes your body has a way of slowing you down even when you know there is a million things to do! We have graduated from our DOC Band... so no more trips to Charlotte! And...we have BIG news to announce about Mr. Parker.....he is CRAWLING all over the house now. No more army crawling...and now he has learned to stand up and hold on to the sofa. He is also reaching into his toy basket and throwing everything on the floor until he finds his little police car....of which is usually in the bottom of the basket...so guess where everything gets thrown...over his shoulder and in the middle of the living room! It is so funny to watch! Unfortunately...he hasn't learned to put his toys back in the basket yet....but he will soon.
