GOD is So Good!
Hey Everybody...
We have had such great results this week with Parkers' appointments! Willis and I took Parker on Monday to the Pediatric Orthopedic Specialist, Pediatric Opthomologist and last but not least the Pediatric Neurologist! The Pediatric Orthopedic Specialist appointment went really well. When we got there they took 2 x-rays of Parker from his waist down and he laid so still for them to do this! We were so proud of our little man. Dr. Locke let us know that Parker's x-ray was completely normal. He said that Parker has what they call Hypotonia (which is muscle weakness) and with aggressive physical therapy he should catch up rather quickly. So we finally have a PT and OT to work with and she comes highly recommended! YEAH!!! He did mention to us that in babies like Parker that have developmental issues due to open heart surgery that it is not uncommon to see so many little things going on at the same time. Sometimes that would cause him to think Cerebral Palsy but in Parker's case he does not see any indication of this! Praise God. Willis and I had read up on this to some extent and it was a little unsettling....so it was a huge relief to lay that thought to rest! Dr. Locke did look at Willis and I and asked the number one question "Why is he so blue in his face?"! We let him know that we have asked that very same question since the day of Parker's open heart surgery. Not to mention everywhere we take Parker someone always asks. So....he has asked that we be referred to a ENT (Ear,Nose, and Throat specialist) to be evaluated. Hopefully we will get the answers that we need when we see Dr. Giles! After we left Dr. Lockes office we headed over to the opthomologist Dr. Cheeseman. At this appointment they dilated Parker's eyes and did a full evaluation. He let us know that in his professional opinion that Parker has "Refixation/Refraction of the eyes". Dr. Cheeseman said that he did not have Nystagmus of the eyes because if he had this then both eyes would have to jump and only one of Parkers' eyes jump. Dr. Cheeseman said that this is primarily being caused by Parker's Plagiocephaly, and once his skull reforms with the DOC band, his eye will correct itself. So more great news! The last appointment of the day was for the results of Parker's EEG with Dr. Morgan. And again....More great news! Everything on the EEG was completely normal!!!! The silent seizures that we think Parker is having did not show up on the EEG and this does not mean that he isn't having them either. They only monitored Parker for 25 minutes during his EEG and if they continue then they will monitor Parker over an 8 hour period. Dr. Morgan has ordered a Sleep Med MRI for Parker, so the date for that will be coming soon. This will give them a more definitive answer on all of the questionable issues. We will keep you all posted for the date of the MRI. We had a very busy day Monday but Willis and I both sighed a huge sigh of relief at the end of the day....because finally we didn't leave a specialist office with unanswered questions and medical anomilies! So we give all of our thanks to the Lord for all that he has so richly blessed us with! We couldn't be happier with the results! Parker will be getting his DOC band next Thursday the 29th....so I will be on the road again. I am so ready to get him started because his little eye is closing more by the day. Hey Everyone...
Parker had his second appointment to Cranial Technologies yesterday in Charlotte and he did great! At this appointment they put the piece of hosiery around his head and he didn't even cry...he actually laughed at them. The specialist said that was a first because usually babies will either scream or try to pull it off and Parker just took it all in and enjoyed the moment! He's such a good baby! Once they put it around his head they sat him on the DSI machine, which took the 360 degree pictures, and they will actually send those images to their lab to create the custom band. I have some really cool pictures that they let me take during the procedure and as soon as I get those downloaded we will share those with you. We will go back to Charlotte on the 29th of this month to get his band! We are so ready to get this for Parker and can't wait to see great results! Today we spent the morning at the neurologist for Parker's EEG. I forgot our camera so Willis took pictures with our cell phone and we will get those posted as soon as we can. This took about 2 hours from start to finish. We had to keep him happy through it all and again .... Parker was so good. They stuck about 20 or more wires on his head and then wrapped it all up with gause. He looked so cute! We will go Monday to speak with the neurologist about the results and they did mention today that an MRI may be needed for further information. Monday will be a really big day for us so please be praying for us. The first appointment we have on Monday is with the orthopedic doctor for Parker's leg. As I had mentioned in the last post, Parker will not apply hardly any pressure to his left leg, it turns out to the side and when we are holding him it turns bright reddish purple and turns cold. More than likely this is due to a poor circulation problem, especially if one of his joints isn't in the right place. After that we will go to the opthomologist for Parker's right eye. Hopefully they will tell us that his eye jumping is only coming from the cranial issues and once that is corrected then his eye will be fine....not sure of this though. Then our last appointment will be with the neurlogist again for him to read the results of the EEG. So I will let you all know of where we are in everything as soon as we get some definitive answers! I hope and pray that all of our small mildstones will be accomplished with simple fixes! Please continue to remember us in your prayers...for we still have some miles to go before we sleep!
